The VwaV Challenge

If you don't know what VwaV is and are a veggie you are definitely missing out in a HUGE way. VwaV ( Short for Vegan with a Vengeance by Isa Chandra Moskowitz, as any food blog reading veggie worth his salt should know ) is THE must have cookbook of cookbooks. Go buy it. NOW. I'll wait till you get back.

Got it? OK. Now we can proceed. Last Christmas Mr. Right gifted me with said food bible for Christmas along with a great non-veg foodie book entitled "Julie & Julia, My Year of Cooking Dangerously" by Julie Powell. I LOVED the concept. One amateur foodie girl challenges herself to make EVERY recipe in a cookbook. Now, granted, she chose Julia Child who is as anti-vegan/vegetarian as you could possibly get. Quite a few pages ( OK. Most of the pages ) read a bit like a horrific bloody novel of terror in which I covered my eyes and screamed at the book, "DON'T DO IT JULIE! ANIMALS ARE OUR FRIENDS! PLEASE, TURN BACK FOR GOD'S SAKE!" But, alas, she couldn't hear me very well through that bold typeface.

Nightmare inducing passages aside, I dreamt that one day I, too, would boldly embrace one of my well-loved-yet-often-cobweb-gathering books of yum and challenge myself to prepare every recipe so lovingly written on every page. That day, my friends, has arrived.

Starting next week, I shall begin this somewhat masochistic challenge. I vow to prepare every recipe in Isa's fabulous masterpiece of vegan goodness and give you the full rundown on each one. I'm going to shoot for 2-3 recipes a week, which should put us at the end in just under a year. Be forewarned, I reserve the right to slack as long as I finish before the year is up. Feel free to follow along, prepare them with me, tell me what you think of the recipes as well. Or don't, & I'll just be the lonely weird cooking chic that thinks people are reading her sad little blog of yum.
